Texty: Scroobius Pip. When Push Comes To Shove.
And as the crowds gathered
I read from the great book
The lords' book
I turned to the book of genesis
As I proudly declared
I can't dance
I can't walk
The only thing about me, I said,
Is the way that I talk.
Always had the feeling
I could never be the villain
Cos the villain in the films
Always back lit
Now I find it pleasing to defend myself a reason
But this monkeys always sitting on my back
Tick tick tick
Then
No explosion
But persistence calls erosion
Like a picture over overly exposure and
Like a fox that's been run over in the road
Always had the feeling
I could never be the villain
Cos the villain in the films
Always back lit
Now I find it pleasing to defend myself a reason
But this clock always sitting on my back
Tick tick tick
Then
No explosion
But persistence calls erosion
Like a picture over overly exposure and
Like a fox that's been run over in the road
You blurred the not so fine line between who I am and who I think I am.
And as the world outside our all-encompassing relationships lift slowly out of focus,
I would hopelessly promote trust as the one thing that could hold us together.
Making it my soul endeavour to never ever let paranoia sever the audit in tether that would maintain in our so-called union. A union which if I held tight enough in my hands, I truly believed I could mould into the type of bond that all fresh young hearts desire before being exposed into the real world.
And while I was at home drowning myself misplaced trust,
You were out of sight embracing lust,
And I can't help but laugh as I look back at the
Dramatic scenes scattered throughout the latter days of our relationship,
Having seen the insignificance of it all.
Standing in a world that throws out far more bitter blows,
Than that of a battered ego.
See, when push comes to shove,
The real world can be far uglier than the tattered remains of a relationship.
When push comes to shove, the real world can be a cold cold terrain.
When push comes to shove, the real world isn't quite what M.T.V had led me to believe.
Wars of all sizes, starting every day,
Kids being murdered in their beds as they lay,
Starving countries in debt, being told its time to pay,
While the world leaders are ignoring the roles that they play.
Truths that were once black and white are turning to murky shades of grey,
While the media fuelled war on terrorism leaves Joe public in disarray.
And what do you do to show your dismay?
Go buy another fucking poster, of Ghandi or shay.
Society's social conscience is in a state of mass decay
Hey! A space shuttle just crashed; let's sell the parts on ebay.
Silence a lark and a dove with a fist and a glove,
More twisted than love, when push comes shove.
Now, silence a lark and a dove
More twisted than love
When push comes to shove
Now silence a lark a dove,
With a fist and a glove
More twisted than love,
When push comes to shove.
Always had the feeling
I could never be the villain
Cos the villain in the films
Always back lit
Now I find it pleasing to defend myself a reason
But this monkeys always sitting on my back
