Texty: Derek McCorkell. Other. The Dream.
I slept in peaceful slumber till a dream took me away
Where I dreamt I was an eagle that fantastic bird of prey
To feel the wind beneath my wings as it carried me up high
And to marvel at the beauty from up there in the sky.
I could see a Vixen guard her young as they played outside the den
Flew oe'r the hills and valleys the mountains and the glens
The rivers and the trout streams that ran down to the sea
And walls of stone and ivy where an old mill used to be .
As I flew I gazed in wonder over Hills and woods and Streams
Yet sad that we can see this clearly only in our dreams
If man could see the wonders that are butchered by his hand
Would he pause in his destruction, and maybe save this land.
But all too soon the dream did fade with the coming of the dawn
The visions that it showed to me were all too quickly gone
So as I watched the daybreak and the rising of the sun
Another dream had faded and another day begun.
So here's my prayer for sanity and hope that man will see
It's wiser far to leave the world the way it's meant to be
Don't drain it of its lifeblood til there's nothing left to give
For all to soon we'll realize there's no Earth left to live
