Gerhard's Alegrias ballet was first performed in 1943 by the Ballet Rambert to a score written for two Pianos. The present concert suite for Orchestra was arranged shortly afterwards and was first performed on 4th April 1944 for a BBC studio recording in London. This is the Hawkes Study Score edition.
