Christmas is a time for singing. We are told that the very first Christmas was ushered in by the singing of angels. And Christians around the world have been singing about it ever since, evoking the creation of hundreds of wonderful songs and carols about one of the favorite celebrations of the church year. This cantata seeks to capture and perpetrate that same spirit of singing and rejoicing with its newly-wrought settings of old favorite carols, as well as some bright new original selections. The final selection, besides briefly reprising the opening, offers a potpourri of 12 beloved carols interwoven into an excitingly overlapping tour de force.
